Southampton, UK, England

Southampton’s location, at the foot of the United Kingdom, offers an ideal point from which to embark on a cruise out of the UK. With a total of four terminals, the city can accommodate some of the largest cruise vessels in the industry. With fantastic shopping opportunities and a large number of museums and art galleries, Southampton is a cosmopolitan city with a lot to offer visitors as well as those arriving in the area prior to embarking on a cruise.

Stavanger, Norway

As the fourth largest city in Norway, Stavanger is a cultural hub and a business district with many museums, restaurants, and interesting landmarks. The Stavanger Oil Museum is filled with fascinating relics from Norway’s oil industry, with many interesting displays; while a journey to Gamle Stavanger (Old Stavanger) will take you on a journey back in time through many winding streets filled with well-preserved wooden houses.

Olden, Norway

Olden is a peaceful Norwegian village, settled at the southern end of Nordfjord – at the entrance to the Oldedalen Valley. The lake here has gained its rich green colour as a result of a nearby river pouring down the surrounding mountains from the Briksdal Glacier. Over the course of time, this glacier has transformed the valley into an area filled with giant waterfalls and many mesmerising natural features.

Andalsnes, Norway

The Norwegian town of Andalsnes is situated in the western county of Møre og Romsdal. Although the town itself is rather small, the surrounding area is home to a number of fantastic natural features including a beautiful collection of mountains and fjords – the top of which will provide you with mesmerising views over the valley and Trollstigen.

Bergen, Norway

Bergen is Norway’s second largest city and is renowned for its beautiful surrounding nature and excellent hiking opportunities. The city has its own unique culture, with a spectacular artistic and musical scene. Its harbour has gained UNESCO World Heritage status for its charming houses and its role as one of the oldest ports in Northern Europe. Most of the city is located on or around  a fjord and and is a major port of call for most Norwegian and Arctic cruises.

Trondheim, Norway

The old central Norwegian city of Trondheim is an historical settlement with over 1,000 years of history. It is epitomised by the towering Nidaros Cathedral, which overlooks the city and is one of the largest churches in northern Europe. This magnificent landmark is the only major gothic cathedral in Norway and sits next door to the Archbishop’s Palace. Elsewhere in the city, you will find a range of wooden mansions including Stiftsgaarden – the King’s local residence.

Along with Nærøyfjord, Geirangerfjord has gained UNESCO World Heritage status for being regarded as archetypical fjords which are among the world’s longest and deepest and which offer an exceptional level of natural beauty. The village of Geiranger is situated at one of the innermost points of the fjord and rewards all visitors with breath-taking and unparalleled scenery.
